Cruiser Wrestlers Move On To Regionals
The Eatonville Cruisers boys and girls wrestling teams had a great showing at the 1A Evergreen Conference league tournament on Saturday.
The girls’ tournament was held at Hoquiam High School on Saturday, Feb 4th. Eatonville had both of their girls competing at the tournament.
Sophomore Ashlynn Kistenmacher nabbed a 1st place finish in the 120lb division to clinch her spot at regionals next weekend. Junior Brooke Ostendorf claimed a 5th place finish in the 130lb weight class and will be an alternate for regionals.
The boys’ tournament was held at Eatonville High School on Feb. 4 as well. Eatonville had a total of 12 wrestlers competing for their ticket to the regional tournament.
The Cruisers will be sending 7 wrestlers to regionals and two alternates.
Grabbing the top step of the podium in first place was Kasey Whitney in the 138lb class. Riley McFadden (132lb) and Carsen Pero (285lb) both took home second place honors. Jacob Ostendorf (160lb) and Logan Shipman (170lb) grabbed third place finishes while Payton Hughey (113lb) and Justen Koch (120lb) both picked up 4th place finishes. All of these wrestlers will move on to regionals next weekend.
Wrestlers Sam Reece (170lb) and Isaiah Duncan (195lb) both took 5th place and will be alternates at regionals.
The regional tournament for the girls will be Saturday, Feb 11 at Shelton High School and the boys regionals will be held at Castle Rock High School.
Wrestlers will need to place 3rd or better at Regionals to move on to Mat Classic XXXIV at the Tacoma Dome February 17-18.
