With the winter sports season in the rear-view mirror, it is time to share the league awards bestowed upon our Eatonville Cruisers as the 1A Evergreen Conference has announced its 2023 All-League Awards.
We will start with the boys' basketball team which saw four players named to the all-league team. All four of these players helped the Cruisers claim their second straight league title and advance to the district playoffs.
Senior guard Shay Brannon was named a 1st Team All-League selection.
Senior guard Walker Bruun was also named to the 1st team.
Senior post player Kyle Cox picked up 2nd team honors.
Junior guard Griffin Clevenger also picked up a 2nd team selection.
Moving on to the girls' basketball team who finished in 3rd place in the Evergreen Conference and qualified for the district playoffs, the Lady Cruisers also had four players receive all-league honors.
Sophomore guard Bailey Andersen was a 1st team selection.
Senior Brooke Blocker was named to the 1st team as well.
Junior post player Sara Smith and sophomore post Lillian Bickford both picked up Honorable Mention nods for their play down low.
Finishing up with wrestling, who would have the most athletes named to the All-League team with six.
Wrestling uses their league tournament (also called sub-regionals) to determine their All-League team. The top 3 finishers in each weight class at the tournament would pick up the honors. A 1st place finish at the league tournament would garner a 1st place All-League selection. A 2nd place finish would be a 2nd team selection and a 3rd place finish would be an honorable mention. With that said, here is the list.
Ashlynn Kistenmacher is a 1st team selection. Kistenmacher not only captured the league title in the 120lb division, but she captured the regional title as well and then a 4th place finish at State.
Kasey Whitney was also a 1st team selection after capturing the league title as well in the 138lb division. Whitney would go on to record a 6th place finish at State.
Carsen Pero was named to the 2nd team after his 2nd place finish at the league tournament. Pero would continue to finish in 4th place at State in the 285lb division.
Riley McFadden would pick up a 2nd team selection and would move on to be an alternate at the State tournament.
Honorable Mention nods would be given to Jacob Ostendorf (160lb) and Logan Shipman (170lb).
