Skip's Mock State Tournament Seeding

With the week 10 games all played, we now know the final 16 teams in the 1A classification that have clinched a berth into the state tournament. Those 16 teams are Royal, Eatonville, Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls, Riverside, Toppenish, Lynden Christian, King’s, Tenino, Freeman, Zillah, Omak, Montesano, Mt. Baker, East Jefferson, Granite Falls, and Bellevue Christian.

Now we must wait until Sunday afternoon for the WIAA seeding committee to seed the 16 teams in order for Eatonville to know what seed they received and whom they will play.

I was bored, so I decided to do a little educated guessing and be my own seeding committee and come up with what I think the seeding might be based on the various HS football polls here in the state.

There are 7 different HS football polls you will find on the internet. Those are Associated Press, Cascadia Preps, Evans Rankings (computer-generated), Evans Rankings (non-computer generated), Scorebook Live, MaxPreps, and the WIAA RPI. I took all of their rankings of the 16 teams and then took the average rank for each team to determine a seeding 1 through 16. If a team was not ranked in one of those polls, I gave that team a ranking of 16.

Now let’s plug those seeds into the WIAA’s 1A state tournament bracket and here is what it looks like.

Now, remember, this is just my own hypothesis of what I think will happen with the seeding. It is in no way accurate. This is just a little fun exercise I did to pass the time until Sunday afternoon when the WIAA releases the actual seedings. Hope you all enjoy it.
