Cruiser Football Drubs Warriors
The Eatonville Cruiser football team held their first “home” game at their home away from home, Art Crate Stadium at Bethel HS this past Saturday. The Cruisers would run away with this one 49-13.
Before the game, the Cruisers would honor their Senior players and congratulate them on a great 4 years with the program. Those seniors were: Mike Myers, Tyson Wood, Nic Bond, Caden Jumper, Zach Barnett, Adam Jensen, Trevor Scantling, Jason Dexter, Ryan Johnson, and Jager Roulst.
The Cruisers would open up the scoring when sophomore wide out Job Kralik took a reverse 15 yards for the score. Kralik would haul in two touchdown catches from 41 and 43 yards later in the game.
Junior Jakob Lucht would have a career day for the Cruisers when he caught touchdown passes of 68 and 69 yards to lead the Cruisers in receiving with 141 yards.
In only his second start for the Cruisers, junior quarterback Kevin Wulff would also have a career day. Wulff would complete 9 of his 11 passes for 290 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wulff would also score from 39 yards out on a designed quarter back keeper run.
Finishing off the scoring for the Cruisers would be a nice 6 yards score from freshman Payton Hanly.
Earlier in the week, the Cruiser would travel to Yelm to take on the 3A Tornadoes in a non-league match up.
The Cruisers would strike first when Wulff floated a nice back shoulder fade to Kralik in the back of the end zone for the 14 yard score.
Yelm would answer back with a touchdown of the own and convert the 2 point conversion to take an 8-7 lead.
Eatonville’s Kralik would add a couple of field goals to give the Cruisers a 13-8 lead at halftime.
Mid way through the 3rd quarter the Tornadoes would add another touchdown and 2 point conversion to take the lead 16-13.
The Cruisers would wrestle the lead back from Yelm early in the 4th quarter when Jakob Lucht would go up and pull down a 23 yard touchdown strike from Wulff. The extra point would be unsuccessful as it bounced off the goal post. Eatonville would lead 19-16.
That score would hold until the 29 second marl left in the game when the Tornadoes would run the ball in from the 10 yard line. Their 2 point conversion try would be unsuccessful. They would lead 22-19 with 22 seconds left.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Cruisers would fumble the ball and Yelm would pick it up and score. The extra point would be successful and Yelm would take the lead and get the win 29-19.
