Cruiser Track Team Dominates the Competition in Montesano





The Eatonville Cruiser track and field team made an undeniable impact at the last 1A Evergreen League meet, hosted at Jack Rottle Field in Montesano on Thursday, May 2nd. Displaying their exceptional skills, the Cruisers left no doubt about their talent, with the boys securing their sixth consecutive overall first place win, having swept every league meet this season. This accomplishment firmly established them as the undisputed leaders of the league. Meanwhile, the girls also clinched a first place finish overall, adding to the team's collective success.


The Cruisers amassed an impressive total of twenty-one individual event first place finishes, with the girls claiming twelve and the boys securing nine. From lightning-fast sprints to graceful jumps and throws, every event bore witness to the sheer brilliance of Eatonville's finest athletes.


Leading the charge for the girls was Jenae Roulst, whose blistering speed propelled her to victory in the 100m and 200m races, both marked by personal best times. Not to be outdone, Kelani Monserrate showcased her prowess in the 400m race, setting a personal best time and leaving her competitors in the dust. Grace Coonrod proved her mettle in the middle-distance events, claiming first place in both the 800m and 1600m races, while Hannah Bieker displayed her endurance in the grueling 3200m race, achieving a personal best time and grabbing first place.  Lily Lightfoot commanded the 100m hurdles with a first place finish while also claiming victory in both the long jump and triple jump, achieving a personal best distance in both.


Teamwork was the cornerstone of success for the girls' squad, evident in their flawless performances in the relay events. From the lightning-fast exchanges in the 4x100m relay to the seamless baton passes in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, the girls demonstrated unparalleled cohesion and determination as they claimed the top spot of the podium in each of those races.


On the boys' side, Keith Smith blazed his way to victory in the 100m race, setting a personal best time and leaving his competitors in his wake. Jacob Simons showcased his speed in the 200m race with a first place finish, while Oscar Lopez-Diaz powered his way to first place in the 400m race.


In the middle-distance events, Colton Rush emerged as a force to be reckoned with, claiming victory in both the 800m and 1600m races, displaying unmatched endurance and determination. The boys' team also excelled in relay events, taking home first place in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.


In the field events, Riley Storm unleashed his fury in the javelin, while Ethan Carter soared to new heights in the pole vault, setting a personal best mark and solidifying his place as one of the league's premier vaulters.


With their eyes set on the upcoming 1A Evergreen League Championships, scheduled for Friday, May 10th, once again at the revered Jack Rottle Field in Montesano, the Cruisers are poised for yet another remarkable performance.
