Cruisers Clip Eagles In League Opener

After not playing a game for 13 days due to the holiday break, the Eatonville Cruiser boys basketball team didn’t look rusty at all as they got things started back up in 2022 to kick off the new year.

Their only game of the week would be a trip to Elma on Jan. 5th to open up Evergreen 1A league play where they took on the Eagles (2-5) and made quick work of them, coming away with a 61-34 victory for their third win in a row.

A 17-4 run to start the second quarter combined with a 15-7 run in the third quarter spelled trouble for the Eagles and allowed Eatonville to cruise to a 61-34 win and improve to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play.

Walker Bruun led the Cruisers with 6-10 shooting (1-2 3FG) for 15 points, followed by Reilly McIlraith's 13 points and Shay Brannon's 12. Kyle Cox checked in with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Walker Bruun goes up for a lay-in against Rainer HS earlier in the season. Bruun would lead the Cruisers in their Jan. 5th victory over Elma in their league opener.

Eatonville was scheduled to host games against Tenino on Friday and Rochester on Saturday, but due to the severe flooding in those areas, the games were canceled for safety reasons. They hope to reschedule those games at later dates.

Next up for the Cruisers are home games against Montesano (Fri 1/14) and Morton-White Pass (Sat 1/15). Both games will tip-off at 7:00 pm.
