It had been 673 days since the Eatonville Cruiser football team had played a game at home on B.W. Lyons Field due to the coronavirus pandemic. In that game they suffered a 27-25 loss by the hands of the Franklin Pierce Cardinals. So it was nice to finally be back at home on a sunny Saturday afternoon to take on those same Cardinals. The Cruisers avenged that loss in a big way with a 56-0 shellacking of Franklin Pierce.

Ranked #1 in the state by Cascadia Preps, Eatonville wasted no time in putting the Cardinals away.

On their opening drive, the Cruisers would march 70 yards down field highlighted by a 50 yard quarterback keeper by Kevin Wulff that got the Cruisers down to the 5 yard line. The drive was then capped off with a 5 yard Blain Hanly touchdown run.

After a Cardinal punt, Wulff would go to the air and find junior wide receiver Job Kralik for a 69 yard scoring strike. Kralik would finish the game with 3 catches for 160 yards and 2 scores.

Jakob Lucht would also be on the receiving end of one of Wulff’s touchdown passes. Wulff would connect with Lucht on a 62 yard scoring strike where Lucht would go up over the from the defender to haul in the pass and race his way into the end zone for the score.

Rounding out the scoring on the day for the Cruisers were senior Kaden Olson who had a couple of nice touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards. Sophomore Dylan Norman would also get on the board with a 22 yard score.

By halftime, the Cruiser defense had only allowed the Cardinals to pick up 43 yards of total offense on their 8 possessions while the Cruiser offense would score on all 8 of their possessions to take a 56-0 lead into the locker room.

The 2nd half would see a majority of back up players in the game for Eatonville and Franklin Pierce would hold them scoreless the rest of the game.

Wulff would finish the day completing 7 of his 10 passes for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns. All of his touchdown passes would be longer than 60 yards each. Wulff would also run the ball 2 times for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Job Kralik would lead the Eatonville receivers with 3 catches for 160 yards and 2 scores. Kralik would also connect on all 8 of his extra point attempts. Jakob Lucht would finish with 3 catches for 104 yards and 1 touchdown. Lucht would also fill in at quarterback for a few plays and complete the only passing attempt he had for 28 yards.

The Cruiser defense on the day would hold the Cardinals to only 78 yards of total offense. Ky Nation would have one interception for the defense in the 2nd half.

The Cruisers next game will be another home game at B.W. Lyons Field when they host their longtime rivals, the Orting Cardinals. That game will be on Saturday September 11th at 1 pm.

Side note: Many of the Cruisers Friday games have been moved to Saturday due to a statewide referee shortage.
