Cruisers Win Season Opener, Defeat Olympic 47-27

After the final game of the 2021 season left a bad taste in their mouths after falling short in the State Championship game, the preseason-ranked #1 Eatonville Cruisers took a step in the right direction in cleansing their palettes of that loss as they defeated the 2A Olympic Trojans 47-27 in their season opener Thursday night at B.W. Lyon Stadium.

It didn't take the Cruisers long to get on the board. Quarterback Job Kralik found a streaking Ky Nation from 56 yards out for the game's first score in the teams first possession of the game. After Kralik's kick was sailed through the uprights, the Cruisers took a 7-0 lead and wouldn't look back.

The Eatonville defense then took over and stalled the Olympic drive at midfield to force a punt.

Starting at their 20-yard line, a few plays later, Kralik would connect with Nation again for a 35-yard reception that set up a Walker Bruun 20-yard scamper into the end zone to increase the score to 14-0.

Olympic would then string together a 72-yard drive and cap it with a 12-yard reception for the score to cut the Eatonville lead to 7 at 14-7.

Starting at their 46-yard line, the Cruisers worked quickly. Kralik found Dylan Norman down the middle for a 49-yard reception to set the Cruisers up at the 5-yard line. Bruun would get the call again and run the ball into the end zone for the score. Eatonville would extend their lead to 21-7.

The Cruiser defense would go to work again, holding the Trojans deep on their 10-yard line, and forcing them to punt. Following the kick, Eatonville would take over at the Olympic 35-yard line.

The Cruisers would quickly march down the field and cap the drive with a Job Kralik 3-yard run for the score to increase the lead to 28-7.

Again, the Cruiser defense would stand tall and force the Trojans to turn the ball over on downs and Eatonville would take over on the Cruiser 34-yard line.

Job Kralik would call his own number again and keep the ball and outrun the Trojan defenders 66 yards for the score. Eatonville would now lead 35-7.

The Trojans would battle back as the half came to a close and punch it in the end zone to trail 35-14 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Kralik would score again in the 3rd quarter on a 35-yard run to put the Cruisers up 41-14. He would then find an open Jake Wood from 20 yards out later in the quarter for the Cruisers' final scoring play of the night tp put Eatonville up 47-14.

Olympic would score two more times while the Cruiser backups were in the game and Eatonville would eventually take the win, 47-27.

Kralik would finish the night 6-6 passing for 184 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he would rush for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Sophomore Ky Nation would catch two of those Kralik passes for a touchdown on his way to a 96-yard receiving night.

Next up for the Cruisers is a Friday night date with their longtime rivals, the Orting Cardinals, in another non-league match-up. The game will be at Cardinal Stadium in Orting with the kickoff scheduled for 7 pm.
