Eatonville’s Ostendorf Claims Top Honors at Grizzly Stocking Stuffer Tournament

Eatonville High School wrestler Brooke Ostendorf secured a triumphant victory at the 2023 Grizzly Stocking Stuffer tournament hosted by Hoquiam High School, claiming the top step of the podium in the 140 pound weight class and marking a significant achievement in her wrestling career. The tournament, held on December 20th, showcased Ostendorf's skill and determination in a single-day event.

Ostendorf, who had faced several near misses with 2nd place finishes in recent tournaments and had secured the runner-up position in the 2022 Grizzly Stocking Stuffer tournament, demonstrated unparalleled determination to emerge victorious this year.

The path to Ostendorf's championship victory began with a bye in the opening round, propelling her directly to the quarterfinals. There, she showcased her dominance by swiftly pinning Lila Willis of Montesano at the 1:03 mark of the first period, setting the stage for her commanding presence in the tournament.

In the semifinals, Ostendorf exhibited her wrestling prowess against Trinity Stone from Aberdeen High School, securing a major decision victory with a final period score of 13-2. This convincing win paved the way for her advancement to the championship match.

The title bout featured another formidable opponent in the form of Aberdeen's Peityn Munoz. Undeterred, Ostendorf continued her stellar performance, pinning Munoz at the 1:33 mark of the final period of the match to clinch the championship title.

Coaches Wes Potter and Trinity Potter praised Ostendorf's outstanding performance, with Wes Potter stating, "Brooke did amazing today using her skills and stamina to take 1st. Trinity Potter added, “She worked her moves and adjusted quickly as needed, staying focused and wearing them down and taking them to the mat to win. She is going to have an amazing senior season!"

Ostendorf's victory not only represents a personal triumph but also sets a promising tone for her upcoming senior season, showcasing her skill, determination, and ability to adapt on the wrestling mat.
