Lady Cruiser Tennis Team Faces First Loss of Season
In a week marked by both triumph and setback, the Eatonville Cruiser girls tennis team demonstrated their resilience and skill on the court. However, their string of victories came to an end as they suffered their first loss of the season against White Salmon.
Their week started with a stellar performance against Montesano, clinching a hard-fought 3-2 win. Lillian Bickford and Alayna Meyer showcased exceptional teamwork in their top doubles match, securing victory with a score of 6-3, 7-5.
Meanwhile, the duo of Jessie Zumwalt and Megan Blake dominated at the number two doubles position, claiming victory with scores of 6-3, 6-1. Jennavieve Smith sealed the deal for the Cruisers with a dominant performance in the number three singles match, finishing with a score of 6-0, 6-2. However, Bailey Andersen and Kate Marsh faced tough opponents in their singles matches, resulting in losses with scores of 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
Despite their strong start, the Cruisers encountered formidable opposition in their match against White Salmon, ultimately suffering a 3-2 loss. Megan Blake and Jessie Zumwalt showcased resilience and skill in the number two doubles match, securing victory with scores of 7-6, 6-2. Jennavieve Smith continued her impressive performance at number three singles, battling through a grueling match to emerge victorious with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore standout Isabel Volk displayed remarkable determination in her number one singles match, pushing her senior opponent to three sets before ultimately falling with scores of 7-5, 1-6, 1-6. However, Kate Marsh faced a tough challenge at number two singles, suffering a loss with scores of 0-6, 0-6. Alayna Meyer and Lillian Bickford encountered strong opposition in the number one doubles match, resulting in their first loss of the season with scores of 1-6, 3-6.
Despite the setback, the Eatonville Cruiser girls tennis team showcased their talent, determination, and competitive spirit throughout the week.
