Lady Cruiser Tennis Team Triumphs in Back-to-Back Matches

The Eatonville Cruiser tennis team showcased their prowess on the court last week, clinching victories in both of their matches against Montesano and Castle Rock, each with a score of 3-2.

In their duel against Montesano, the team faced an initial setback, dropping the top two singles matches. However, Kate Marsh rallied for the team, securing a crucial win in the number three singles with a score of 7-6, 6-3. The Cruisers then dominated the doubles matches, clinching victory. Alayna Meyer and Isabel Volk battled through a lengthy three-set match in the number one doubles, triumphing 1-6, 6-3, 7-6. Meanwhile, Megan Blake and Jessie Zumwalt also triumphed in three sets, sealing the win with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, with both doubles teams claiming victory in tiebreakers.


Against Castle Rock, Bailey Andersen displayed formidable skill, securing a win in the number one singles with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Once again, the Cruisers dominated the doubles matches. Alayna Meyer and Isabel Volk faced another tough three-set match in the number one doubles, emerging victorious with a score of 6-7, 6-1, 6-3. Meanwhile, Megan Blake and Jennavieve Smith secured a solid win in the number two doubles with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Despite valiant efforts, Amelia Ferreira and Kate Marsh experienced losses in the number two and three singles matches, respectively.


Before the Castle Rock match, the team paid tribute to their two seniors, Ella Gendreau and Tam Thompson.


With these triumphs, the Cruisers now boast an impressive 11-2 record, currently tied with White Salmon for second place in the 1A Evergreen League standings. The team is gearing up to conclude the regular season with a visit to Stevenson on Wednesday to face the Bulldogs, followed by hosting White Salmon on Friday.
