Lady Cruisers Pick Up First Win Of The Season

This past week, the Lady Cruiser basketball team dove into league play and picked up their first win of the season in the process.

On Monday, Jan. 17th they would play host to Elma High School and weren't very good hosts as they sent Elma packing with a 62-30 drubbing behind the season-high 31 points from Hailey Rath to give the Cruisers their first win of the season.

The Cruisers would follow up that victory by heading to Hoquiam High School to take on the Grizzlies.

Eatonville would continue on their winning ways with a 40-30 victory. Rath would again lead the Cruisers with 13 points on the night. Bailey Andersen would chip in 9 points.

The Cruisers would look to continue their win streak by finishing up the week with a trip to Tenino to take on the Tenino Beavers.

The Beavers full-court press to start the game stifled Eatonville and allowed Tenino to pull out to a 12 point lead at the end of the first quarter, 20-8.

The Cruisers were never able to recover as Tenino continued to increase that lead behind the 19 points of Ashley Schow to hand the Cruisers their second league loss, 49-28.

Senior Berkeley Porter would lead the Cruisers with 10 points with 8 of those coming in the 2nd half. Freshmen Bailey Andersen would pull down a team-high 13 rebounds.

Eatonville now sits at 2-2 in league play and 2-7 overall. The Cruisers will need to play well down the stretch if they look to qualify for district play.
