Lady Cruisers Walk It Off Against White River

On Friday, the Lady Cruisers needed extra innings to defeat the White River Hornets 6-5 in 9 innings.

After trailing 5-3 heading into their final at-bats, Mary Chabot led off the inning with a solo home run to pull the Cruisers within 1 run at 5-4. In the next at-bat, Hailey Rath would get on base after a hard hit ball to the third baseman. After a series of errors on the play, Rath would make her way all the way around the bases to score the tying run.

The game would remain tied until the bottom of the 9th inning. With a runner on second, Brooke Blocker would double to left field scoring Kyleigh Backlund to secure the Cruiser's come-back victory, 6-5.

Sarah Smith would have a great day at the plate going 3-4 with a home run and a double, driving in 1 Cruiser run. Dakota Smith would also pick up 3 hits in the game.

Earlier in the week, the Cruisers would play a non-league game against Yelm High School.

After cruising along and reeling off eight consecutive wins, the Cruisers finally came up against something that was able to stop them…….a storm of all things. That storm came in the form of a tornado, the Yelm High School Tornados.

After taking a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 5th inning, the Lady Cruisers couldn't hold back the Yelm bats any longer as the Tornados erupted with four runs to take an 8-4 lead. They would add 1 more run in the 6th and the Cruisers were unable to counter and Yelm handed Eatonville their second loss of the season

Senior outfielder Hailey Rath would hit another home run to push her state-leading total to 11 and make it 4 games in a row she has homered. Berkeley Porter hit one out as well. Mary Chabot would pick up 3 hits in the loss.

Next up for the 9-2 Lady Cruisers is a 3-game series against Montesano High School. They will play a double-header against the Bulldogs here in Eatonville on Tuesday at 3:00 and 5:00 pm before finishing off the series in Montesano on Friday at 4:00 pm.
