Rogue Pound did not need to choose between the track and the runway Thursday afternoon. He dominated both.

The Eatonville junior captured first place in the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump at Franklin Pierce High School, anchoring a dominant team performance that propelled the Cruiser boys to a first-place finish with 77 points. Franklin Pierce finished second with 52 and Clover Park third with 46. The Cruiser girls fell just short of their own team title, finishing third with 56 points behind Franklin Pierce's 58 and Clover Park's 57.

Pound crossed the line in the 110m hurdles in 18.08 seconds, then cleared 19 feet, 7.5 inches in the long jump to take that title as well. He also placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 126 feet, 7 inches, giving him points in three separate events on the day.

"He was everywhere," might as well describe Steven Haas, too. The junior swept both the pole vault and the triple jump, setting personal bests in each. Haas cleared 11 feet in the vault and went 38 feet, 3 inches in the triple jump to claim a pair of individual titles of his own.

The Cruisers collected wins across the board. Jacob Simons took the 200 meters in 22.90 seconds, a personal best for the junior. Oscar Lopez-Diaz won the 400 in 53.52, also a personal best, and finished fifth in the 200 in 24.39, another personal best. Landon Austin took the 300-meter hurdles in 45.88, and Jarin Ragazzo launched the javelin 155 feet, 9 inches for first place.

In the distance events, sophomore Gabriel Kolsrud was a consistent scorer, finishing second in both the 800 and the 1600. He ran 2:13.95 in the 800 and 4:51.99 in the mile. Junior Titus Lowe placed fourth in the 1600 with a personal-best 5:10.80 and backed that up with a second-place finish in the 3200 in 11:15.01.

In the field, Mason Kinley finished second in both the shot put (43 feet, 3.25 inches) and discus (132 feet, 7 inches, a personal best). Adam Ames placed third in the discus at 125 feet, 5 inches, and fifth in the shot put at 38 feet, 4.25 inches. Connor Austin cleared 10 feet, 6 inches to take second in the pole vault, and Teagan Croppi was third at 10 feet. David McClain placed second in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches.

The Cruiser boys also placed second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:55.21, with Gabriel Kolsrud, Teagan Croppi, Troy Smith and Oscar Lopez-Diaz combining for the effort.

On the girls side, Lily Lightfoot provided the headline performance. The senior won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.78 seconds, a season best, and took first in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 28 feet. She also placed third in the long jump at 14 feet, 1 inch. Lightfoot's multi-event output was the kind of performance that could have swung the team score on its own.

Sophomore Tymbre Green won the 800 meters in a personal-best 2:56.00 and placed fourth in the 1600. Junior Hannah Bieker ran to second in the 1600 in 6:20.94 and third in the 3200 in 14:05.50. Senior Bridget Stumph placed third in the 1600 (6:34.08) and second in the 3200 (13:56.41). The four combined to finish second in the 4x400 relay in 5:10.96.

Sophomore Ava Tatro set a personal best to win the girls pole vault, clearing 8 feet. Freshman Bethany Kidd had a productive day across multiple events, placing second in the long jump (14 feet, 3.5 inches), second in the high jump (3 feet, 8 inches) and fourth in the pole vault. Junior Madison McChesney-Brownfield placed in the top five in all three throwing events, finishing second in javelin at 65 feet, 2 inches, third in shot put at 24 feet, 11 inches and third in discus at 82 feet, 9 inches.

The Cruisers now turn their attention to the 2A South Puget Sound League Championship meet, scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 and Friday, May 15 at Harry Lang Stadium on the Clover Park campus. Strong finishes there will determine who qualifies for the 2A District 3 Championships the following week at Bremerton High School.
