Tennis: Lady Cruisers Go 2-1, Dominate Foss

The Eatonville Lady Cruisers tennis team finished the week 2-1, picking up wins over Clover Park and Foss while falling to Fife. The Cruisers opened with a 3-2 home win over Clover Park, sweeping all three doubles matches. Rilynne Johnson and Jessie Zumwalt won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Haydin Kolowitz and Claire Bertram rallied from a first-set deficit to seal the deciding match.

A road trip to Fife ended in a 5-0 loss, though several doubles matches were competitive. The Cruisers bounced back Friday with a dominant 5-0 shutout of Foss. Kolowitz won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Emory Simpson rolled 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, and Bertram and Toryn Amaral capped the day with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles. Eatonville closes the regular season with road matches at Steilacoom, Washington, and Foss before a home finale against Franklin Pierce.

Track & Field: Personal Bests Highlighted in League Meet

Eatonville's track and field teams competed against Orting and White River, with White River sweeping the team scores. The boys finished second (36 points) and the girls took third (14 points). Oscar Lopez-Diaz highlighted the boys meet by winning the 400 meters in 54.25, and Mason Kinley took first in the shot put at 44 feet, 4 inches. The 4x100 relay team of Lopez-Diaz, Phillip Buchholz, Jacob Simons, and Steven Haas placed second in 44.36.

On the girls side, Riley Bailey earned second in the 100-meter hurdles and Madison McChesney placed second in the discus and third in the shot put. The 4x200 relay team of Kalli Olson, Ciana Hover, Avery Crowder, and Andrea Hall also earned a runner-up finish. The Cruisers compete next on Thursday, April 30 at Foss High School.

Boys Soccer: Back-to-Back Shutout Losses Set Up Crucial Week

After a momentum-building 5-0 win over Foss, the Eatonville boys’ soccer team hit a wall with consecutive 5-0 losses to Clover Park and Franklin Pierce. The skid dropped the Cruisers to sixth place in league standings with the regular season winding down.

The team now faces a critical final week. They host Clover Park on Monday, April 27 in a must-win matchup before traveling to face Orting on Tuesday — a team Eatonville already defeated 4-3 this season. The regular season closes Thursday with Senior Night at 7 p.m. at Arrow Lumber Stadium at B.W. Lyon Field against Steilacoom. The community is invited to attend and celebrate the team’s four seniors.
