Cruisers Topple Rival Orting 4-1

Cruisers snagged a late lead in the 7th inning and defeated their longstanding rival Orting for the first time in quite a while. Downing them 4-1 on Tuesday evening. The Cruisers were trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh when Kaitlyn Rath stepped to the plate with one out and put the first pitch over the centerfield fence for her second homerun of the season to tie the ball game up. Madison Miller then hit a double to center and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball during Kylie Koszykowski’s at bat. Koszykowski then draws a walk in the next at bat. During Brooklyn Lucht’s at bat, Miller steals 3rd base while Koszykowski steals 2nd. That gives the Cruisers the lead at 2-1. Lucht then drives a hard hit ball into right field scoring Koszykowski to give the Cruisers a 3-1 lead. In the next at bat, Lucht advances to 3rd on a Baley Porter groundout and then scores on a passed ball to make it 4-1 Eatonville.

Porter finished the game out on the mound by striking out 3 of the 4 Cardinal batters she faced in the 7th to seal the victory. She surrendered one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Mackenzie Waller went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Cruisers in hits. Eatonville was flawless in the field and didn't commit any errors. Lucht and Rath both drove in 1 run a piece for the Cruisers.

Jessica Moore provided all of Orting’s offense when she took Porter deep in the 4th with a solo homerun to left field.

The Cruisers are now 7-3 overall on the season and sitting in 1st place atop the league with a 5-0 record.
